Cultural Lloret
Lloret de Mar is like an open museum, you will discover its history as you walk through its streets, squares and streets.
La Dona Marinera
In 1966, a bronze statue called the Dona Marinera (Fisherman’s Wife) Monument was commissioned. You can admire this beautiful creation at the end of Lloret Beach. A piece by artist Ernest Maragall, its height of 2.4 m leaves a lasting impression.
It pays homage to women of the seafaring era who were often responsible for keeping the home going while the men went out in search of fortune on the other side of the Atlantic.
This sculpture, also called the “Venus of Lloret”, bestows Lloret’s coastline with a beautiful and high-quality artistic structure that ensures a constant stream of admirers.
Legend says that if visitors look towards the horizon (just as the statue does) and touch the sculpture’s right foot with their hand, any wish they make at that moment will come true.
