Blanes

Fishing village with magnificent botanical gardens

The Costa Brava has its entrance door in Blanes, more specifically in the rock of Sa Palomera. It is a culturally very rich town. Where its botanical gardens, its castle, and the distinctive element of Blanes, fishing, stand out.

If we let ourselves get lost in its streets, we can enjoy its elegant 18th-century houses and some interesting Catalan Gothic remains, among which the fabulous fountain built during the 15th century stands out.

GARDENS:

Blanes consists of 2 incredible large botanical gardens, with different flora and spectacular views, these gardens are the Marimurtra and the Pinya de Rosa gardens, botanical gardens designed with terraces that extend towards the sea from the rocky elevations where they are located.

Pinya de Rosa is a tropical garden located on the outskirts of the town, it represents one of the most interesting cactological libraries in Europe. The collection presented by the garden includes more than seven thousand species from all over the world.

On the other hand, in the Marimurtra garden you can see some of the most spectacular views of the coast and learn about more than four thousand plant species, most of them exotic.

FISHING:

Blanes has a fishing fleet of boats that leave every day from Monday to Friday to work at sea.

The fishing fleet is made up of 49 vessels that work in different types of fishing: trawling, seine, bottom longline, surface longline and small gear.

Watching a fish auction is a spectacle of a lifetime. The character of Blanes cannot be understood without the arrival of the boats in port, the boxes of fresh fish, the price tenders...
